IKEA the funding agency of unicef is decided to visit India to see the impact of their support, for this they have decided to visit UP and in UP they have decided to visit 3 villages of district Sonebhadra. During their visit they have focussed on two issues the first is sanitation facilities available in the government schools and another is education. They found here in the schools sanitation facilities very well seperate toilet for boys and girls with urinals, water supply in toilets by taps, water storage, FLHP, soaps, mirror, Incinerators, functional Child Cabinets, baby friendly toilets for pre scholl children. They found sanitation facilities as good as some of the IKEA members used that facilities available in the schools. Apart from above mentioned they have appriciated very much the MDM shed and Hand Washing platforms constructed in the schools for keeping in view the hygiene and sanitation. Another issue of education they found that joyfull learning is going on in the schools with the decoration of class rooms.
After the visit of IKEA team the Chief of the team expresed himself and said in the press conference that " The day i have visited Sonebhadra (UP India) is the most happiest day for me since last more then ten year of my life"

Rjeshwari Chandrashekhar UNICEF UP Visited Sonebhadra
Keeping in view the proposed visit of IKEA team, Rajeshwar Chandrashekhar visited a few villages of district Sonebhadra along with Education specialist Vinoba Gautam and Ms Rubeena. I have arranged her visit and took them to the villages to view the status of education and sanitation in the goverment schools. Apart from sanitation and quality education she has seen the Mid Day Meal Shed also, which is an innovation in Sonebhadra's schools includind Incinerator.

Ahmadabad Visit to Know The Production & Supply System of Rural Pan
It has been realised during study that propper supply chain system is the main hurdle in inplemnting the TSC program in the state. Keeping it in to the view WASH office Amit Mehrotra visited with all 8 DSS and State Coordinator to Ahmadabad to understand the production know how and supply chain system of the sanitary goods specially rural pan. We visited Ahmadabad because it is the only place where the production of rural pan is high (UP is not producing rural pan). There we met Ishwar Bhai Patel and stayed in his campus. We visited the factory and met number of suppliers to understand the economics and quality of rural pan. In fact first time visited by Air. This was such a great experience to understand the supply chain system of sanitary goods.

Training of DSS on SMS (CLTS)
A four days training on social mobilisation on sanitation (SMS) has been organised by the unicef at Lalitpur in the second week of May, 2010 for eight District Sanitation Specialists working in 8 model districts. Resource person were from ATI Nainitaal named Ms Anupama Verma and Garima Yadav. Keeping in view the importance of the training Mr Amit Mehrotra was present himself through out the training. Wakeel Ahmad, Dr Ashok Singh, Om Prakash Mani Tripathi, Sushil Pandey, J P Singh, Sanjay Shukla, Parikshit Seth, Manoj Shukla, Dr Rajesh Shukla and my self participated in the training.

TRAINING OF MASTER MOTIVATORS TO TRAINED VILLAGE MOTIVATORS IN SONBHADRA
Village Motivators are the key person in the TSC, therefore training of these grass root level worker is must. Training programme and budget for the same is agreed by the DSC. Keeping in view the importance of the training programme D D Panchayati Raj organised a 3 days residential training programme for master motivators to traind the village motivators (VM) with unicef support. These master motivators has been selected from the department of Health, ICDS, Panchayati Raj and Education. Total 18 master motivators prepaired during the three days training at Hotel Tirupati Basera, Robertsganj in the first week of May, 2010. Wakeel Ahmad, Sanjay Shukla, Sushil Kumar and my self participated as resource person of the training programme.

Innovation : MDM Shed Constructed at Government School at Sonbhadra UP
It looks quite embarrassing to see children having meal at muddy floor and spread out in all the campus during having their MDM in the government schools.
Gram panchayt Sukrat Block Robertsganj took initiative and constructed MDM shed to maintain the dignity of children. Now the children's of Primary and Upper Primary School are eating their meal under the shed constructed by gram panchayat. Gram Pradhan, ADOP Dhananjai Jaiswal play an important role to do this innovative idea.

International Learning Exchange ILE visit to Lalitpur
I got this opportunity to participat in the ILE visit held at Lalitpur (UP) during A team of 16 people from 9 respevtive countries visited Lalitpur to understand the status of sanitation in the district for formulating the further plan of action in this sector. In this regards the ILE team has visited 8 villages of Lalitpur. They have seen the school sanitation specially to understand the practices, also seen the school toilet, anganwadi toilet, hand washing, incinerator, water supply in the toilet and many other things related to sanitation.
The ILE team attended an important meeting with the DM and other district and block level officers and gave their views on sanitation. DM has invited to all the members of the team to his residence and hosted the dinner, in which District Judge, SSP, ADM, SDM and all the important officers were present to serve the team.

Visit of Global Chief Clarissa Brocklehurst to Sonebhadra, Mirzapur & Varanasi
It was a greate occasion when global Chief of WES UNICEF Ms Clarissa Brocklehurst visited district Sonebhadra UP India to understand the situation of Water & Sanitation and the support of UNICEF to the department of Panchayati Raj and others. Clarissa visited along with Lizett (Country Head WES), Adele Khudr (State Chief), Mr Hank Regional Coordinator South east Asia. In Sonebhadra she visited Village Pakari falls in block Robertsganj to see the RSM. During her visit the team analyse RSM functioning, School toilet, Hand washing, Incinerator, Anganwadi toilet and a lot.
DM Pandhari Yadaav, CDO Kailash Prakash, DPRO A K Singh, CMO, BSA Rakesh Singh, DPC Anil Kumar, ADO(P) Dhananjai Jaiswal, RSM Manager Ajay Singh has explain the scenario of sanitation.

MASON'S TRAINING
Masons Training in the district has changed a lot the mind set of the stake holders like Gram Pradhans, Secreatary, ADO(P) as well as masons it self. Masons was strange when they have been taught that Y shape Junction Chamber needs only one and half bricks.
