Value and attantion should be given to the sanitation facilities created in the schools only then children will understand the impotance of these.

IKEA Team visited Sonebhadra

IKEA the funding agency of unicef is decided to visit India to see the impact of their support, for this they have decided to visit UP and in UP they have decided to visit 3 villages of district Sonebhadra. During their visit they have focussed on two issues the first is sanitation facilities available in the government schools and another is education. They found here in the schools sanitation facilities very well seperate toilet for boys and girls with urinals, water supply in toilets by taps, water storage, FLHP, soaps, mirror, Incinerators, functional Child Cabinets, baby friendly toilets for pre scholl children. They found sanitation facilities as good as some of the IKEA members used that facilities available in the schools. Apart from above mentioned they have appriciated very much the MDM shed and Hand Washing platforms constructed in the schools for keeping in view the hygiene and sanitation. Another issue of education they found that joyfull learning is going on in the schools with the decoration of class rooms.






After the visit of IKEA team the Chief of the team expresed himself and said in the press conference that " The day i have visited Sonebhadra (UP India) is the most happiest day for me since last more then ten year of my life"

Rjeshwari Chandrashekhar UNICEF UP Visited Sonebhadra

Keeping in view the proposed visit of IKEA team, Rajeshwar Chandrashekhar visited a few villages of district Sonebhadra along with Education specialist Vinoba Gautam and Ms Rubeena. I have arranged her visit and took them to the villages to view the status of education and sanitation in the goverment schools. Apart from sanitation and quality education she has seen the Mid Day Meal Shed also, which is an innovation in Sonebhadra's schools includind Incinerator.

Ahmadabad Visit to Know The Production & Supply System of Rural Pan




It has been realised during study that propper supply chain system is the main hurdle in inplemnting the TSC program in the state. Keeping it in to the view WASH office Amit Mehrotra visited with all 8 DSS and State Coordinator to Ahmadabad to understand the production know how and supply chain system of the sanitary goods specially rural pan. We visited Ahmadabad because it is the only place where the production of rural pan is high (UP is not producing rural pan). There we met Ishwar Bhai Patel and stayed in his campus. We visited the factory and met number of suppliers to understand the economics and quality of rural pan. In fact first time visited by Air. This was such a great experience to understand the supply chain system of sanitary goods.

Training of DSS on SMS (CLTS)

A four days training on social mobilisation on sanitation (SMS) has been organised by the unicef at Lalitpur in the second week of May, 2010 for eight District Sanitation Specialists working in 8 model districts. Resource person were from ATI Nainitaal named Ms Anupama Verma and Garima Yadav. Keeping in view the importance of the training Mr Amit Mehrotra was present himself through out the training. Wakeel Ahmad, Dr Ashok Singh, Om Prakash Mani Tripathi, Sushil Pandey, J P Singh, Sanjay Shukla, Parikshit Seth, Manoj Shukla, Dr Rajesh Shukla and my self participated in the training.
